It is planned an automatic Backup with
versionning (date/time) and incremental
backups:
- Just select the
folder(s) to backup and the destination
drive/folder. The rest is dony ba
PureSync: automatic backups when a file
has been modified or added ot when the
destination drive has been plugged in.
- Backup can be done
each hour or at each modifcation. So you
can view or restore the current file
with any backuped file. You will have a
history of each file.
- Old backup will be
removed in cased there is not enough
space for new backups at the destination
drive, and e.g. in case there a several
backups for a day in last november, only
one one backup will be kept for each
day, each week or each month, depeding
on the age.
All this curently in
development.
What already works:
- Automatic backups
when a file has been
added/removed/modified or the
destination drive has been connected
- Backups with
Date
or a counter in the destination folder,
so that each backup will have a new
destination folder and the old backups
are kept.
-
Restoring files with a date navigation
and a chronological list with all
backups
- When specifying
the destination with a counter ([n]) a
the number of backups that will be kept
can be defined.
What is not yet
working but planned:
- In the current
version of PureSync each time a complete
backup will be done, which consumes a
lot of disk space. In a future version
it is planned only to backup the new or
modified files (incremental backup)
- Deleting old
backups is not yet implemented.
a) deleting old backups may be required
to get free disk space for new backups
b) and it makes no sense to keep all
backup, e.g. for older than 2 days, only
one backup per day, older than 2 weeks
keep only one backup, ....
The 1st Beta Version is
planned for march.
